These are expensive and full of philosophy snack called lepet.
In our tradition, we used to serve this snack and its partner, kupat or ketupat as a meal for Bakdho Kupat, that took a place at a week after Eid day.
It’s pretty different from other Indonesian, whom nationally serve the ketupat at Eid day.
The reason of this tradition was to celebrate of success of people whom able to do the prophet sunna of six day fasting right after Eid.
Well, I don’t do the fasting since as I know, the hadith of this command are weak for called “Hadith Ahad”, but I like the tradition, which not related to worship: serve a meal!

Moreover as I said before, this meal indeed contains a deep philosophy.
There are two version of this philosophy:

KUPAT, is shorten from ngaKU lePAT. Confess our misake
LEPET, is composite of words lepat luput kulo, nyuwun dingapuro our mistake and miss, please forgive all of it.
So if someone send you or serve you this meal, you should take it, as if someone confess their mistake you should forgive.
This how we understood that fasting and Eid would turn people back to their purify.
Being forgiven and zero sin, as the new baby born.

It said that these philosophy were told by Sunan Bonang, one of Walisongo,
KUPAT, is shorten from laKU sing paPAT. A four behaviour.
- Lebar : finished the worship
- Lebur : fall of all sins
- Luber: favor abudant
- Labur: cleans soul
Which symbolized by meals that coloured white covered with JANUR, JAti ning NUR, or light of the spirit, as the Lepet.

So whether of those philosophy is more correct, are fine for me. I like both!
But aside from its deep philosophy, to eat this meals.. I would not say I don’t like, but.. it’s really pretty hard for me!
Lepet made from sticky rice mixed with grated coconut, and then boiled for 5-6 hours.
It’s indeed sticky and would make your tummy easy to feel full.
I don’t like to feel full because I would not be able to eat anything else! Oh, well!! ^^;;

And the reason for I said these meal as expensive meal is for its price, that cost 75.000 for 50 pieces.
The Janur or young coconut leaf for cover itself cost 500 for each, which would only to be dump after we ate the lepet.
It should be cooked for 5-6 hours, which mean need a lot of fuels to burn!
And moreover if you count time to grated the coconut and covered the dough, perhaps it would need a day long!
Not saving energy and time at all!
Of course, we, our family members, are lack of patience to do it by ourself!
So we order it to other neighbor ;p
It's not favorable if we took a long time to cook, but would only need a short time to dismiss it at eat! ;-))

Many words about kupat and lepet, but where is the kupat?
Hmm, it's Si Enah Sarenah, one of my mom's cat, that have it!
It was fake kupat form a parcel ornament, but Si Enah likes to play with it!

When I experimenting with those Lepet things, Si Enah comes to disturb, which Si Enah admit: comes to sleep!
This world is wide enough, why should you sleep here?!
Oh well, perhaps Si Enah only wants to say: SELAMAT BAKDHO KUPAT!! ^^;;

Si Enah head's feathers just grew after recovering from a skin disease.
Still bald a little bit at some spot.
No vet here, we was struggle with many treatment to cure it and pretty happy with its result~
